Individual vs. Team Autonomy

After our library assignment about autonomy I found the article Under the influence of the team? An investigation of the relationships between team autonomy, individual autonomy and social influence within teams written by Jønsson, Thomas  and Jeppesen, Hans Jeppe.   Initially I thought individual autonomy would be better to have then team autonomy, but after reading the article I've changed my mind.  In this article the author states that team autonomy and individual autonomy are closely related and basically play off of each.    “The results of the multiple regression analyses show that team autonomy is positively associated with individual autonomy, which is neither moderated by the team's ability to make the employee feel responsible nor by team support."   This quote from the article is very powerful because it shows not team and self-autonomy are very similar and anyone who is capable of team autonomy is capable self-autonomy.  I learned a lot about how to utilize the library’s website and how to use it the right way.  Also I learned the different parts of the library and where to go if I have a problem or question about any of my assignments.  Obviously I learned about autonomy and how there can be more than one type.  Pervious from today I had an idea of what autonomy meant but now I know for sure that autonomy is self-reliance and independence.  This applies to me as a first year student because autonomy is required as a college student and part of being autonomic is knowing where to go to get the proper information such as the library.
